A Consulting Firm Built Around One Clear Purpose
Helping Malaysian business owners understand whether franchising suits their situation — and if so, building the foundations to do it properly.
← Back to HomeFounded on the Belief That Sound Franchises Are Built, Not Declared
Semangat Group was established in Shah Alam with a straightforward observation: too many Malaysian businesses entered franchising without the preparation it requires — and too few consultants were willing to say so plainly.
The firm was built to fill that gap. Our practice is grounded in the view that franchising is a serious commitment for both the franchisor and the franchisee, and that the consulting work done at the outset determines whether a network stands up over time or struggles under the weight of its own structure.
We work across sectors — food and beverage, education, personal services, retail, professional services — and bring the same disciplined approach to every engagement: look at the evidence, form a clear view, and communicate it honestly.
Our Mission
To give Malaysian business owners a clear, evidence-based view of their franchise potential — and to build franchise systems that function in the realities of the Malaysian market rather than in theory alone.
Our Values
- Clarity over comfort. We give honest assessments even when the findings are not what a client hoped to hear.
- Process discipline. Good franchise systems are methodical. Our consulting reflects that.
- Mutual viability. We consider both franchisor and franchisee interests in every framework we develop.
- Appropriate pace. We move at the speed the work requires, not faster than sound foundations can be built.

How We Maintain the Quality of Our Work
Written Deliverables
Every engagement produces clear written outputs — reports, manuals, frameworks. Not summaries of verbal conversations, but documents you can act on and refer back to.
Confidentiality Standards
All business information shared with our team is treated with strict confidentiality. Non-disclosure arrangements are standard across every engagement and available to formalise at any stage.
Defined Methodology
Our consulting follows structured, stage-by-stage methodologies. Clients know what work is in scope, what the process involves, and what the deliverables will be before engagement commences.
Legal Coordination
Our franchise agreement work is conducted in coordination with qualified legal counsel. We ensure the consulting and legal dimensions of system development are properly aligned.
Malaysian Regulatory Alignment
All systems and documentation we develop are aligned with Malaysian franchise regulations including the Franchise Act 1998 and relevant Ministry of Domestic Trade requirements.
Regular Communication
Clients receive structured progress updates throughout each engagement. We do not operate as a black box — you know what stage the work is at and what is coming next.
Franchise Consulting in the Malaysian Context
Malaysia's franchise sector has matured considerably over the past two decades. The Franchise Act 1998, the Franchise Development Programme managed by Perbadanan Nasional Berhad, and the steady growth of domestic franchise brands have created a landscape with genuine opportunity — and genuine complexity.
Semangat Group's consulting practice operates with specific knowledge of that landscape. We understand the registration requirements under the Franchise Act, the expectations of Malaysian franchisees, the practical challenges of operating across diverse communities and geographies within the country, and the commercial realities of the sectors where franchising is most active.
Our work is shaped by direct experience advising businesses across Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor, and Penang — and by an honest respect for the operational demands that franchise development places on a founding management team. We bring structured thinking to that process, and a clear view of what makes the difference between franchise networks that develop soundly and those that encounter difficulty.
